Taiwan Fu Hsing has been honored with the Special Award in the Sustainable Enterprise Category at the 6th PwC Sustainability Award ceremony.

The sixth "PwC Sustainability Award", jointly hosted by PwC Taiwan and the Taiwan office of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, announced its winners yesterday. Following its 2020 victory, Taiwan Fu Hsing once again stood out from numerous entries this year with a work titled "Open Gangshan’s Memory Boxes", earning the Special Award in the Sustainable Enterprise category. It was the only film among the award-winners with the theme of "Forging local consensus, showcasing the beauty of Gangshan".

Taiwan Fu Hsing places a strong emphasis on ESG and has a long-standing commitment to the sustainable development of Gangshan. The award-winning work, "Open Gangshan’s Memory Boxes", was a collaborative ESG project by the corporate foundation, National Sun Yat-sen University, and Gangshan Military Veteran Village Cultural Association. In alignment with the United Nations' SDG 11, which underscores the importance of sustainable urbanization, this project envisions Gangshan harmonizing local progress while preserving its distinctive cultural identity, thus exploring diverse avenues for future development.

Gangshan's land reorganization in recent years, coupled with the rise of neighboring industrial areas, has spurred swift infrastructure growth, yet at the cost of diminishing cultural uniqueness. In 2020, Taiwan Fu Hsing Foundation, in collaboration with National Sun Yat-sen University, Gangshan Military Veteran Village Cultural Association, and local curatorial studio, Kelioarts, orchestrated a three-part cultural event, namely "Appraising Local Distinctiveness", "Safeguarding Indigenous Reminiscences" and "Unveiling the Splendor of Gangshan", aiming at engaging residents in contemplating the city's future development while showcasing its multifaceted cultural tapestry.

Just as Ms. LIN Yi-cheng, CEO of Taiwan Fu Hsing Culture & Education Foundation, said in the video, "Gangshan boasts a wealth of cultural distinctions, but there hasn't been a concerted effort to systematically compile and articulate them". Residents participating in this local co-creation initiative have realized that "Gangshan holds ample room for development", while outsiders have discovered that Gangshan is "not as backward as previously imagined" and possesses "a compelling narrative of its own".

Taiwan Fu Hsing has been rooted in Gangshan for nearly half a century. In addition to the "Open Gangshan’s Memory Boxes" initiative, in recent years, the company has actively promoted local sustainability through endeavors such as GoodLock (philanthropic lock replacement on campus) and sponsorship of local arts, culture, and sports events. Moving forward, we will remain attentive to the needs of the local community and lend our unwavering support to the city of Gangshan.
