The first Taiwan Sustainability Action Award ceremony, organized by Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), took place at the Grand Hotel in Taipei on October 13. Taiwan Fu Hsing’s “BetterUp Program: Making Dreams Come True for Migrant Workers” was awarded the Bronze Award in the category of practicing SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities. It shows that Taiwan Fu Hsing’s efforts and achievements in the aspect of social integration has won the recognition from the outside world.

TAISE has organized “Taiwan Sustainability Awards” for more than a decade and this year is the first time to include the “Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards” to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of all sectors in Taiwan to implementing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. The Awards attracted a total of 138 participants, with a total of 225 entries, covering issues such as caring for rural communities, long-term care services for the elderly, social inclusion, and environmental protection.

Since its inception more than six decades ago, Taiwan Fu Hsing has been actively creating a work environment that is human-centered, diverse, and inclusive. In 2019, we launched the “BetterUp Program: Making Dreams Come True for Migrant Workers.” The two cores of this program are “education” and “equal rights” that aim to provide more than one hundred migrant workers in our factories with personal growth courses and grants for dream-realization plans to encourage them to bravely actualize their dreams and themselves. In 2020, through Taiwan Fu Hsing Culture & Education Foundation, we even extended our scope to the general public. By joining forces with One-Forty, an organization focusing on providing education for migrant workers, we organized the migrant worker photography exhibition, “Opportunity: Taiwan,” at the Pier 2 Art Center, Kaohsiung, to help the public to see the multiple faces of migrant workers from a soft angle in order to open a dialogue on equality and reduce social inequalities.

Taiwan Fu Hsing truly believes that a diverse, inclusive, and equal society is the key to Taiwan’s core competitiveness in the future We will continue to try our best to fulfill our corporate social responsibility. We also invite more like-minded partners to join us to create a better and more friendly environment together.
