In an era marked by extreme weather and frequent emergencies, resilience has become a key capability for modern cities. To promote disaster awareness among the public, Taiwan Fu Hsing has partnered with the National Sun Yat-sen University USR Project “Civic Collaboration Hub” and the American Institute in Taiwan Kaohsiung Branch Office (AIT Kaohsiung) to launch the interactive exhibition “Unlock! Disaster Preparedness.” The exhibition is now open and will run until November 23 at the Penglai B6 Warehouse of the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung.
The opening event was lively and well-attended, drawing enthusiastic participation from the public as well as industry and academic representatives. Centered on themes of folk beliefs, modern professional roles, and interactive gameplay, the exhibition invites visitors to “become someone’s disaster-ready teammate” through a series of puzzle-solving missions. From home preparedness and post-disaster recovery to community connections, each challenge transforms disaster knowledge into practical, engaging, and educational experiences.
Lin Yi-cheng, Chief Culture Officer of Taiwan Fu Hsing, remarked, “Disaster preparedness is not a reaction to crisis, but the result of everyday readiness and connection.” As a Kaohsiung-rooted company with over 60 years of history, Taiwan Fu Hsing has long been committed to public safety and cultural sustainability. From initiating a campus lock-replacement charity program to supporting local culture and arts education, the company continues to practice corporate social responsibility (ESG) through concrete actions, striving to be a reliable pillar for the city.
Notably, colleagues from Fu Hsing’s U.S. office also flew to Taiwan to attend the exhibition, witnessing the company’s dedication to disaster education and the promotion of community resilience. Since its launch, the exhibition has received overwhelming public response, with surrounding workshops fully booked almost instantly. To further extend the experience, Taiwan Fu Hsing organized three additional sessions of the “Reality Game,” enabling employees to learn hands-on how to protect safety through game-based scenarios.
“Unlock! Disaster Preparedness” embodies the spirit of community preparedness, co-learning, and co-creation, reflecting the shared commitment of industry and academia to advancing safety education and cultural sustainability. Through this engaging and educational exhibition, Taiwan Fu Hsing hopes to reinforce a powerful message:
“Disaster preparedness is not only about protecting yourself—it is about empowering each other.”
