To fulfill the corporate social responsibility and respond to the United Nations’ SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities, Taiwan Fu Hsing Industrial Co. takes advantage of its expertise in door lock manufacturing to launch the Charitable Campus Lock Replacement Project as part of the GoodLock Good Life Proposal. The project aims to provide free door lock replacement and maintenance services for all public schools of primary and secondary education in Kaohsiung City to allow students to have a learning environment to stay safe and study at ease.

Taiwan’s schools often ignore the fact that old rusty door locks could turn into security hazards. And the traditional door lock mode of “one key for each lock,” adopted by the schools, can easily lead to a challenge of managing multiple keys and even possibly fail to rescue victims during the Golden Hour in times of emergency. Given these circumstances, Taiwan Fu Hsing targets school campus and kindly donates our door lock products. Moreover, with expertise and love, we gather corporate volunteers to provide lock replacement services to help local schoolchildren stay safe on campus. Applications for the project are accepted from now to April 30. Schools with needs for door lock replacement services are more than welcome to apply.

The Project was officially launched at the end of 2021. The first campus benefited from our services was Shou Tian Elementary School near Fu Hsing. Stationed in Gangshan for nearly fifty years, Taiwan Fu Hsing is always concerned about local needs and actively gives back to the community. Shou Tian Elementary School, which has just celebrated its twentieth anniversary, does not have a very long history but the door locks and shafts of their classrooms have been frequently used and exposed to moisture and direct wind over years. The school said that they spent a lot of funding on door lock replacement over the past few years, but due to insufficient funds, they had to cut back on spending without wasting anything wherever they could.

Noticing their need, our colleagues took the initiative to contact Shou Tian Elementary School for replacing door locks. More than a dozen volunteers enthusiastically assisted them to install nearly one hundred sets of new door locks all at a time at the end of last year. All the locks were installed with our self-developed Master Key System. We successfully helped the school solve the problem of managing a huge number of door locks and reduce campus safety risks that benefited more than a thousand teachers and students. Taiwan Fu Hsing plans to expand the scope of our services to the whole Kaohsiung City, hoping to make a greater impact on society and benefit more local teachers and students.
